The Effect of Attention-Deficeit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) on Reading Comprehension Through Working Memory
A Review of the Literature
This review of the literature connects two different areas of research on Working Memory. First, it reviews the literature on the ways in which ADHD impacts working memory; second, it reviews literature on how working memory impairments affect reading comprehension. It ties these two concepts together to suggest that ADHD has a direct impact on reading comprehension. It also looks at potential interventions teachers could use in their classrooms to boost reading comprehension in students diagnosed with ADHD.
